On 11th December 2021, a One-day Eye Camp was organized targeting the deprived and back warded communities of Chepang and other underprivileged communities of Raksirang Rural Municipality, Makwanpur district, Province. Raksirang is one of the most undeveloped and backward place of Nepal.

The remoteness of the community is verified by the travel time to the community, as it takes one and half day to reach the site. Travel through the rough rural roads, passing high hills, landslides and riversides are the challenges to overcome for organizing the camp in these areas. Health camp logistics like, arranging doctors and medical team from another district town, information flow in the community, managing volunteers and other necessary logistics arrangements were even more challenging things to manage in the rural areas.

People came to the camp from the nooks and corners walking 3-4 hours to receive the health service. There were many challenges, especially to taking the people from nooks and corners to the campsite and from campsite to the hospital for Surgery and taking responsibility for their safety, managing accommodation, control the crowd and taking overall responsibility of whole process (from home-treatment-back to home). Most of the beneficiaries were old-aged, so it was even more difficult to deal with them and work according to their physical and mental state. The management of food, transportation was also very big challenge in this place.

In conclusion, the eye camp was organized very successful and. This type of camps are very necessary to be conducted in villages and always impactful. People in villages are very happy to receive free health service. It gives them huge relief)
