Promoting Quality Education for Vulnerable Children (Phase 1)

Commenced in 2023, Promoting Quality Education for Vulnerable Children works to ensure quality and continuous education for vulnerable children in the remote community of Khanigaun, Dhorpatan Rural Municipality, Baglung. The project supports the Jhak Child Development Center, which currently serves 50 children, with 26 having already progressed to continue their education in nearby schools.

Children in Khanigaun face limited access to quality education due to geographical isolation, poverty, and inadequate educational facilities. Vulnerable children from Magar, Dalit, and other disadvantaged families often lack essential school materials, proper learning environments, and adequate support, while limited infrastructure makes it difficult for schools to deliver child-friendly education. To address this, the project provides school uniforms, educational materials, teacher support and training, and assistance for basic infrastructure and child-friendly classrooms. It also runs parental awareness activities to promote the importance of education and strengthen community participation — with special attention to children from Magar, Dalit, and other marginalized families facing economic and geographical barriers.
