About the Project

Make Women Independent through Skills and Entrepreneurship (Make-WISE 3) is the current phase of ILIN’s women’s economic empowerment programme in Goldhunga-5, Tarkeshwor. Building on the foundation of Make-WISE 1 and 2, this phase delivers an intensive, year-long vocational incubation designed specifically for financially disadvantaged women, widows, and single mothers. Participants progress through basic, intermediate, and advanced tailoring — including sewing, cutting, and pattern design — while developing the enterprise skills needed to earn a stable income. By combining hands-on training with business readiness, Make-WISE 3 supports 20+ women trainees in moving from economic dependency toward genuine financial autonomy and self-employment.

Objectives

Empower financially disadvantaged women, widows, and single mothers toward financial independence.
Deliver intensive, year-long vocational training in tailoring, cutting, and pattern design.
Advance participants from basic to intermediate and advanced garment-making skills.
Build enterprise and business-readiness skills to help women generate sustainable income.
Continue and strengthen the Make-WISE empowerment model established in earlier phases.

Activities

Selecting and enrolling disadvantaged women, widows, and single mothers as trainees.
Delivering intensive one-year training in sewing, cutting, and pattern design.
Guiding participants through basic, intermediate, and advanced garment production.
Supporting enterprise incubation to help women start their own tailoring work.
Mentoring trainees toward self-employment and financial autonomy.

Project Outcomes

20+ women trainees are currently developing market-ready tailoring and enterprise skills.
Participants are progressing toward financial independence and self-employment.
Women’s confidence and economic self-reliance are being strengthened through structured training.
The Make-WISE model continues to build on the results of Phases 1 and 2.
