About the Project

Building on the success of its first phase, Make Women Independent through Skills and Entrepreneurship (Make-WISE 2) advanced ILIN’s women’s empowerment work in Goldhunga-5, Tarkeshwor from foundational training toward enterprise and self-sufficiency. Where Phase 1 introduced women to core tailoring skills, Phase 2 focused on deepening their expertise and turning those skills into livelihoods — supporting graduates to produce marketable products and take the first steps toward running their own small businesses. By reaching a new group of disadvantaged women, widows, and single mothers while strengthening the pathway from training to income, Make-WISE 2 reinforced a model of lasting economic independence that continues today through Make-WISE 3.

Objectives

Extend vocational training to a new cohort of disadvantaged women, widows, and single mothers.
Advance participants from basic skills toward intermediate and advanced garment production.
Strengthen the link between training and real income generation.
Support women in producing marketable goods and moving toward small-enterprise activity.
Consolidate and improve the Make-WISE model established in Phase 1.

Activities

Enrolling a second cohort of women from disadvantaged and marginalized backgrounds.
Delivering advanced tailoring, cutting, and garment-production training.
Guiding participants in producing quality, market-ready garments.
Supporting graduates toward employment or launching their own tailoring work.
Reinforcing enterprise and income-management skills to sustain livelihoods.

Project Outcomes

A further group of disadvantaged women gained advanced, market-ready tailoring skills.
Participants strengthened their ability to generate income and work toward self-employment.
The training-to-livelihood pathway was reinforced, improving long-term outcomes.
The Make-WISE model was consolidated across two phases, leading into Make-WISE 3.
