About the Project

Empowering Youths through Education and Skills (EYES III) continued ILIN’s flagship youth scholarship programme, carrying forward the model proven in EYES 1 and EYES 2. Like the phases before it, EYES III was designed to keep talented but economically disadvantaged young people in education by removing the financial barriers that so often force them to drop out. The programme supported the whole student — funding technical and vocational training alongside the living, learning, and wellbeing needs that make sustained study possible — helping another cohort of youths move toward qualifications, employment, and long-term self-reliance.

Objectives

Continue the EYES scholarship pathway for disadvantaged youths in the Kathmandu Valley.
Fund technical and vocational education to prevent dropout caused by financial hardship.
Support students’ complete needs — tuition, materials, accommodation, and wellbeing.
Strengthen beneficiaries’ readiness for employment and independence.
Build continuity between earlier EYES phases and the ongoing Phase IV.

Activities

Selecting and vetting a new cohort of eligible disadvantaged youths.
Covering tuition and technical/vocational training costs.
Providing educational materials, accommodation, and health/hygiene support as needed.
Mentoring scholars and tracking academic progress through to completion.
Supporting transition toward further study or employment.

Project Outcomes

35 disadvantaged youths received full scholarship support. [confirm]
Students at risk of dropping out completed their academic and technical training.
The EYES model was carried forward, bridging into the ongoing Phase IV programme.
Beneficiaries advanced toward employability and financial self-reliance.
