From Vulnerability to Financial Freedom: Maya's Tailoring Journey
“Before ILIN’s Make-WISE training, I had no income and feared how I would educate my two children. Today, I earn over 25,000 rupees every month from my own shop and I can proudly pay my children’s school fees on time.”
Maya was struggling to make ends meet after losing her husband. Without vocational training or capital, her job prospects were limited to unstable manual labor. Through ILIN’s Make-WISE program, Maya received 12 months of structured training in basic, intermediate, and advanced garment design. Equipped with sewing mastery and a sewing machine upon graduation, she launched her own neighborhood tailoring shop in Goldhunga.

Seeing the Mountain Peaks Again: 72-Year-Old Bir Bahadur's Vision Restored
“I had spent five years in total darkness, unable to see my grandchildren’s faces or walk outside my house. The ILIN doctors brought my eyesight back. It feels like waking up to a second life.”
For more than half a decade, severe bilateral cataracts stole Bir Bahadur’s independence. Living in a remote mountain hamlet with no hospital nearby and unable to afford hospital fees in Kathmandu, his world shrank to a small room. When ILIN’s SHARE medical camp arrived with ophthalmologists and diagnostic ultrasound equipment, Bir Bahadur was diagnosed and scheduled for immediate cataract extraction surgery at zero cost.

Nurturing Hope in the Remote Highlands of Baglung
“In our village, winters are harsh and schools were just cold rooms without books. ILIN gave our children warm classrooms, wonderful teachers, books, and uniforms. Anish wakes up excited to go to school every single morning.”
Khanigaun in Dhorpatan Rural Municipality sits at high altitude where resources are scarce and winter temperatures plummet. Through ILIN’s Village School Program at Jhak Child Development Center, 50 children receive daily early childhood education, warm insulated classroom facilities, books, toys, and nutritious snacks. To date, 26 children have successfully completed the early learning curriculum.

From School Dropout Risk to Certified Technical Nurse
“When my father fell sick, I thought my dream of studying medicine was over. ILIN not only covered my college tuition and hostel, but they also gave me monthly encouragement. Today, I am proud to serve patients in need.”
Sunil was on the verge of abandoning his studies after secondary school due to severe family debt and medical emergencies at home. Accepted into ILIN’s EYES scholarship program, he received full tuition funding, hostel accommodation, educational materials, uniform allowance, and emergency medical safety. Having completed his technical healthcare qualification, Sunil is now employed at a community clinic.
